Howick Boarding & Breeding Cattery

Conveniently situated in the centre of Howick, this beautifully landscaed rural paradise is a cat's haven of peace and tranquillity. Free from the stressful noise of traffic and barking dogs, your cat can enjoy the soothing sound of running water from the water feature and the gentle tinkle of wind chimes.

Above all it is a place where you can be confident that you are leaving your beloved pet in an environment where you can be certain that they will receive the best possible care and attention, nutritious food and plenty of love and kindness by our professional and highly experienced team.

Established over 30 years ago, the cattery has enjoyed the very best reputation and is highly recommended by the local veterinarians. Over the last 16+ years the present owners, Jan and Ivan Willis, have maintained and improved its high standards of cleanliness, hygiene and care.

I am now breeding the love of my life, the Norwegian Forest Cat. Details of this cat and pictures at the bottom of this page. Kittens are available now !

I have been taking my cats to this cattery for almost 10 years. Jan is most certainly a cat lover and talks and cuddles with the cats as if they were her own!  I am also grateful that they send their Xmas booking sheets in Sept/Oct as it reminds me to get our holiday plans finalised and make sure we can book our cats in for those times. They get booked up quite early and that to me tells me that they are good at what the do. The 'male owner' ,as other reviewers have worded him, Ivan, actually went out of his way when my very frail cat of 17ys passed away, (not unexpected) peacefully, while we were on holiday, contacting me and making the necessary arrangements, which included burying her in our garden before we got back. Now if that isn't service, I don't know what is!!!

Great Cattery that goes beyond a boarding cattery - Excellent people, service, and care‎ !!!!! We have had three cats looked after by Jan and Ivan over the years. Our first cat was a 16 yr old Burmese with kidney disease and required medication and special food - we always felt assured our cat was being well cared for - and he was! James our mandalay was very well cared for and always seemed relaxed when we collected him. Unfortunately James was killed on the road outside our home and was very touched that Jan expressed her sincere condolences - a very genuine lady. We now have Henry our blue mandalay boarding with Jan and Ivan as required and he is always very happy when collected and I am told he receives lots of cuddles that he loves! We have also had vets recommend Jan and Ivan's cattery.  This cattery is one of the best I have ever encountered?????

I have been taking my cats here for well over 14 years, they have been well cared and looked after. one of my cats was still being cared for at the age of 19 and my younger one has been cared for since she was 6 months she is now 7. The cattery is very clean and on collecting the cats all the other cats look pretty happy too. As for the comment on not accommodating for less than 5 days, this only applies to the Xmas period, when they are very busy and bookings are made by Sept/Oct. I suppose I know the owners very well now and yes you would need to have a good sense of humor to relate to them. Like every business they have their rules and times you adhere to.  Until I have no further cats I will keep using this cattery.

Norwegian Forest Cat

The Norwegian Forest cat, aka 'The Viking Cat', is a large, semi-longhaired Norwegian breed. It is an ancient breed, and is one of the largest of all domestic breeds, with only the American Maine Coon being larger.

It is a powerfully built cat with long hair, a full ruff, tuffeted ears and a bushy tail. The Norwegians front legs are slightly shorter than the hind legs. Its long outer coat is glossy and water resistant, while the thick undercoat adds protection against the cold.
